Unaccompanied Housing

Unaccompanied Housing at NAF El Centro houses approximately 160 personnel in one centrally located building. The Housing Service Center (HSC) will review your eligibility and explain available housing options based on your pay grade and assignment status.

Accommodations are one or two persons per room, determined by pay grade and square footage. Building 401 serves as the check-in point, and linen is provided upon arrival.

Most personnel in pay grades E1–E3 and E4 with fewer than four years of service are required to live in UH. E4 personnel may be required to live on base depending on space. More senior personnel may be eligible under certain circumstances.

Amenities

UH residents have access to lounges with televisions, washers and dryers, vending machines, and nearby recreational, fitness, dining, religious, and educational facilities. Most amenities are within walking distance.

Housing in the Local Community

Depending on your assignment status and pay grade, you may be eligible to live in the local community. The HSC maintains updated listings for apartments, homes, and shared rentals. Staff can assist with lease reviews, roommate matching, and guidance on rental agreements.

Local apartments are generally affordable and convenient to the installation. Sharing a home or apartment can help reduce costs, and HSC staff can provide tips for successful shared living arrangements.

Service members authorized to live off base will receive Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH).

Geographic Bachelors (GB)

Geographic Bachelors are personnel assigned to NAF El Centro whose dependents live in another geographic area. GBs receive BAH at the with-dependents rate and are not normally authorized to live in UH. Limited spaces may be available.

GBs must submit an application for review by the Assignment Review Board. If approved, they will be placed on a waiting list and offered UH accommodations when available.
