Youth Programs

NAF El Centro's Child Development Center offers full-time care for children six (6) weeks to kindergarten. Children are supervised by qualified staff who receive ongoing training and provide activities that promote physical growth, motor development, cognitive development, language development, and creativity. Fees are based on total family income.

NAF El Centro's School-Age Care program consists of diversified recreational, social, and athletic curriculum to satisfy the interests and needs of children ages six to twelve years old. Fees are based on total family income. The program is designed to provide training in the leisure time skills. We offer art, STEM, leadership, outdoor recreation, and health & wellness activities. Field trips are also part of the curriculum. Before school care is available if needed. Please contact the Center Manager for details.

The Teen and Youth Center

The Teen & Youth Center offers a variety of “out of school” programs for youth attending Kindergarten – 12th grade which are designed to enhance rather than duplicate the school day.   The Teen & Youth Center is composed of three programs: School Age Care, Teen Programs, and Youth Sports & Fitness.  A variety of programs are offered throughout the year to enhance and support the military/DoD experience in El Centro. The Teen and Youth Center is a proud member of the Boys and Girls Club of America and 4-H affiliate.  Programmed activities include the Navy Core Programming Areas of Leadership, STEM, Health & Wellness, The Arts, and Sports & Recreation.  Our goal is to support your youth’s development by offering high-quality programs and building positive relationships with peers and caring adults.

School Age Care- Grades K-7th

Fee-Based program offering daily before and/or after school care for military/DoD Dependents who are current attending grades Kindergarten – 7th grade.  (Transitional Kindergarten not eligible).  Summer Camp eligibility is determined by the most recent school grade level completed.  This program is designed to meet the needs of school-aged youth in the hours before and after school.  Before and After School Programs offer parents peace of mind by providing a safe and supportive place for children and youth to engage in activities that promote and develop positive values, community contribution, reinforce educational skills, promote physical fitness, and explore career development.  A variety of care options are available to suit parents’ needs. 

Care Options:

Before School: Care provided before-school daily 5:45- 7:30.  Fees are based on Total Family Income and are due twice monthly on the 1st and 15th of each month. Transportation is not included in the morning except for Seeley School which has a bus stop at the center.

After School: Care provided after-school daily 1:30 - 5:30 PM Monday - Friday.  Snack is served at 3 pm daily. Fees are based on Total Family Income and are due twice monthly on the 1st and 15th of each month. Transportation is available for pick up at various schools in the valley.

Before & After School: Fees are based on Total Family Income and are due twice monthly on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Weekly Camps: During school breaks, full-day care is provided on a weekly basis (5:45 AM - 5:30 PM) throughout the year. Breakfast, lunch, and snack are provided during these camps. Activities include athletics, arts, science, drama, field trips, and special events.  Summer Camp eligibility is determined by the most recent school grade level completed.  Weekly Camp Fees are based on Total Family Income and are due on the first day of each camp week. 

To Request Care: Go to www.militarychildcare.com to create an account and request care. Offers for care are priority-based from the waitlist. This is a limited-space waitlist program. Requests for care are not guaranteed placement. If available, affirmative offers only will be made via email notification from MilitaryChildCare.com.

Hourly Care: Care is provided on a space-available basis during program hours listed above. Fees are $8 per hour.

Teen Programs- Grades 7th-12th

This is a FREE after school teen program for military/DoD dependents who are a minimum 13 years old AND currently attending grades 7th – 12th grade.  Summer enrollment eligibility is determined by the most recent school grade level completed. 

Our programs are aimed at facilitating healthy peer-to-peer relationships in a relaxed and safe environment.  Attendance is drop-in basis, and registered teens can come and go throughout the day. Teens can get connected face-to-face with their community and participate in fun activities. We provide activities that focus on building self-esteem, developing appropriate relationships, academic success, leadership, community service, arts & crafts, STEM, carpentry, sports, and healthy life choices.

After School: The Teen Center is open 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM Monday-Friday. Teens must provide their own snacks/meals. Refrigerator, microwave, and utensils are available.
