Retiree Support

Military retirees in the El Centro area are supported by the Retired Activities Office (RAO) located in San Diego. The RAO provides information, referrals, and assistance to retired service members, their families, and eligible former spouses.

The RAO serves as a liaison between retirees and the agencies that manage benefits, entitlements, and records. Offices are primarily staffed by trained volunteers who are themselves military retirees.

Services Provided

The RAO assists with a wide range of retiree-related needs, including:

  • Benefits, entitlements, and privileges
  • Claims assistance and documentation updates
  • RSFPP and SBP counseling
  • Dependency and incapacitated adult child support
  • Tax withholding and MyPay updates
  • Legal referrals (wills, probate, family law)
  • USFSPA and former spouse guidance
  • DIC and survivor benefits information
  • Record requests through NPRC
